King's Life Guard

Changing of The King’s Life Guard occurs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1100 on Horse Guards Parade. At 1600 daily, the duty officer will inspect The King's Life Guard in the courtyard. At 1100 on Saturday and Sunday, the duty officer will inspect The King's Life Guard on Horse Guards Parade. 

Over the Christmas period the Changing of The King's Life Guard will take place as normal on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, excluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

• Due to essential infrastructure related works in the stables at Horse Guards, the King’s Life Guard Ceremonial operations will be suspended from 17 August with a plan to return on 29 August 2026.

• During this time, King’s Life Guard personnel from Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment will still be present at Horse Guards but in a security capacity rather than on front facing Public Duties. The Household Cavalry Museum at Horse Guards will remain open.
